CRBT
CRBT or Crying Really Big Tears is one in a series of 12 pieces by Nellie Maan from her very latest art range. There are only 25 signed prints making the art highly collectable.
CRBT invites the viewers to consider how the recipients of their texts may be responding on an emotional level. Does the emotional response mirror the content of the text message? Have people ever been curious to know how the recipient of their text is actually responding – to be a fly on the wall? There was no real inspiration for the art work. When thinking about emotions an image of a face with tears just popped into the visual cortex and refused to disappear until it was sketched onto paper.
The art piece plays with the notion of someone Crying Really Big Tears. The faceless face of the person crying the really big tears captures the fact that people’s actual responses to text messages remain anonymous. The use of blue seems fitting with the idea of tears. Tear drops are falling out of the frame as well as behind the frame. The background of water runs adds to the piece.
The precise working methods are a closely protected secret that have evolved over a number of years. The textures that Nellie produces are rich and varied and the balance of texture to white space with the use of strong black lines along with the limited colour palette defines this very unique style and gives it the clean fresh look.
This new and contemporary art style has been applied to the world of text speak acronyms as it is a language that says little but speaks volumes. This clean, fresh and appealing fine art print is suited to all styles of decor.
